PADDY KOOL STRIPS IN NEWSPAPER STRIPS SOCIETY MAGAZINE # 2

Hello. Below you will find some of my artwork and little animated films based on it and other graphics related interests films. There  are some of my early comic strips .“ON THE ROAD” PARTS 1 AND 2. is part of a series of animations I made using cartoons, graphics and favoured illustrations from my sketchbooks and  scrapbooks .” On the Road” was originally hand  drawn in 1974 as an apresArt School nod to Jack Kerouac’s influential beat tome of the same name of which I was greatly enamoured. After my tenure in the Jacob Kramer College of Art in Leeds and  Fine Art in Manchester,it was literally drawn and coloured at various locations while hitch-hiking throughoutEurope back in the hippy days before unheard cheapair flights , when cheap travelling required a backpack, stout boots and Roy Harper’s “Highway Blues”. It was rendered in indian ink and coloured with inks and coloured pencils.  Many adventures happened on the way and I tried to refer to some of those . So London, Amsterdam , Hamburg , Copenhagen..and Leeds, feature in the bohemian itinerary.A home-made mix of the mighty James Marshall Hendrix features as a sonic backdrop which can only be appropriate. I’ve also referenced the much maligned “Oz” magazine which was a rare multi- layered and multi- coloured beast in those days but a necessary meeting place for the tribes. I still have my collection if not the cosmic resource required to read them properly. Mixed into the graphics and underground press there are a sprinkling of mind-bending fractals to add spice and memory.  .As  you can see most of these uploads have to be  split into small bite-sized parts for easier upload but if played end to end should prove no barrier to your enjoyment.Enjoy!
